Tiger Woods strolled home to claim the US Open and complete the first half of the Grand Slam (all 4 majors in one year), having already claimed the Masters this year. It was his eigth major championship, leaving him fifth in the all time list, still 10 behind Jack Nicklaus.
Sergio Garcia clung on with a final round 73 to win the Spanish Open by Four strokes. It was Garcia's first win on Spanish soil.
