Peter Ebdon beat Stephen Hendry 18-17 in a thrilling final frame finale to probably the best World Championship.
Stephen Hendry beat Ronnie O'Sullivan, the current champion, 17-13. The players had resumed at 12-12 but Hendry won the first four frames taking the match out of the balance.
The number of centuries in the World Championship this year reached 59 which equals the tournament record, set in 1998. The total is almost certain to rise with the quality of the play of the four remaining players reaching such a high standard.
